A Sound Map of the Roman Baths exists as a living archive. It contains scored and improvised music, word fragments, images, poetry, and field recordings responding to memories that have been folded into the deep past. This exhibition at Hardwick Gallery offers a glimpse into the Roman Baths, part of the UNESCO World Heritage site in the city of Bath. The project is the result of a twelve-month research process led by musician Chris Cundy, with visual artist Dominyka Vinčaitė and poet Adam Horovitz.

You are invited to join for a special screening of the documentary film produced for A Sound Map of the Roman Baths by Dominyka Vinčaitė on Friday 26 April, 5pm.

The film (47 minutes) follows the processes of research and field work, from early morning site visits through to a live performance that took place beside the Great Bath itself in October 2023. The film includes original music composed and performed by an ensemble directed by Chris Cundy. Additionally there will be opportunities to listen to and view the other artworks in the exhibition.

For the Q&A we will be joined by Chris Cundy and some of the many artists and musicians who collaborated in this project.
