Accessible Cheltenham - Cheltenham Made Easy (Information for visitors with disabilities)
We have made every effort to ensure this website is easy to read using 'plain English'. In addition, we have ensured that the design of this website is not an obstacle to its usability and readability.
Screen readers
A screen reader is a software application that attempts to identify and interpret what is being displayed on the screen (or, more accurately, sent to standard output, whether a video monitor is present or not). This interpretation is then re-presented to the user with text-to-speech, sound icons, or a Braille output device. Screen readers are a form of assistive technology (AT) potentially useful to people who are blind, visually impaired, illiterate or learning disabled. Facilities and information for those with disabilities visiting Cheltenham and the surrounding areas
Cheltenham welcomes all visitors and this information has been specially compiled to assist visitors with disabilities and those who accompany them.
You can download the Visit Cheltenham Map, which details disabled parking and toilet facilities.
Radar access for disabled people
The majority of our public toilets have access available for disabled people under the Radar National Key Scheme
The National Key Scheme (NKS) offers disabled people independent access to locked public toilets around the country. Toilets fitted with NKS locks can now be found in shopping centres, pubs, cafes, department stores, bus and train stations and many other locations in most parts of the country.
How to obtain a radar key
You can obtain a key for £3.50 from the reception at the Municipal offices in the Promenade. Proof of disability is required. The key will fit all national toilets on this scheme.
