The jewel of Cheltenham’s Regency architecture, Pittville Pump Room is the grandest survivor of the town’s many spa buildings. Overlooking the sweeping lawns and ornamental lakes of Pittville Park it is the perfect place to step back in time: imagine the swirling dancers in the ballroom, hear the music playing in the bandstand and remember, when you see the scagliola pump in the apse of the main hall, that this was the reason for it all - an unpleasant tasting liquid that supposedly had the power to cure all ills!
Through its colourful history the iconic pump room has been an entertainment venue, hosted Royalty and housed American GIs during the Second World War after the US entered the war in 1942. Today it is a leading venue for weddings and private hire events; corporate events and conferences; concerts; talks, workshops and the creative artisan market. The popular Heritage Café Orangery is open daily for food and drinks with views over the Pump Room and Pitttville Park.
