Indoor rainy day activities
Nestled among our many cultural wonders in Cheltenham, there are a host of indoor activities which are great for those rainy or chilly days, or just because you fancy something different to do!
The Brewery Quarter
All children love soft play, and it’s also a chance for parents to relax over a cup of a coffee, knowing children are in a secure environment. The Play Farm is an indoor soft play centre that is suitable for children from birth to 12. It is wheelchair accessible and, as one would expect, has baby changing facilities. It is housed in Cheltenham’s Brewery Quarter, where you can also undertake a family challenge at Hollywood Bowl, enjoy the most recent film releases at Cineworld and visit Mulligans indoor golf. There are a great selection of places to eat in The Brewery Quarter too, so it is a great day or evening out.
Leisure At
Leisure-at Cheltenham is a multi-function indoor leisure centre with indoor pool, teaching pool and a diving pool, and they also offer kids holiday activities. It is open all year round with late night opening, offering you the opportunity to take part in family friendly evening activities too.
Roxy Lanes
Located on the High Street Cheltenham offering lots of kid friendly activities including ten pin bowling, a batting cage, karaoke, basketball, shuffleboard and more. Please note, Roxy Lanes allows under 18’s in before 5 pm with an adult.
Jumpin Fun Inflatable Park
An exciting indoor attraction with wall to wall inflatable fun for just about anyone, of any age, located on Cheltenham’s Tewkesbury Road. Guaranteed to tire the children out!
Galleries & Museums
The Wilson – Cheltenham’s Art Gallery and Museum – is an award-winning educational and fun day out for children, and is home to various exhibitions throughout the year, and events during the school holidays. It has a gift shop and café selling healthy and cooked to order food and delicious cake and bakes too.
Holst Victorian House is home to the piano Gustav used to compose The Planets. You will have the opportunity to experience what life would have been like for a Victorian child as it takes you back in time, and Holst Discovery Space offers an interactive kiosk where you can both view and listen to the Museum’s collection of early Holst manuscripts.
The Wishing Fish Clock is always a favourite with the little ones, located in Regent Arcade and created by Kit Williams (famous for the book ‘Masquerade’), the clock was designed to entertain, and make you stop and watch for a moment. It’s sure to put a smile on your face!
Particularly during the school holidays, our three theatres and the Town Hall offer a good selection of children’s productions with evening and matinee performances, ideal if you have younger children!
