Elkstone Studios are super excited to be collaborating with Mad Batter Cakes for this Candle Making Workshop at the tipi! Elkstone loves collaborating with small local businesses and this event is no exception!

Transport yourself back to science class on a wonderful Summer's day in a beautiful tipi, with this unique candle making workshop, run by specialist chandler, Hannah Thompson from Time to Burn, followed by insanely delicious brownies, made to order by Mad Batter Cakes!

What Do You Get?

YOUR CANDLE: You will create your own unique summery scented candle made with planet-friendly soy wax and pure natural essential oils. Your natural non-toxic candle will burn for up to 50 hours and will have a lovely crackling wooden wick! The scents for Summer are focused on candles you can burn both indoors and outside, with various natural bug-repelling scents. Plus the handmade candle jars are Summer-coloured, making them perfect for the sunny months!

GIFT BAG: You will also take home a little gift bag, containing unique handcrafted goodies.

TEA & COFFEE: throughout the class you will enjoy endless free tea & coffee. Not just any old tea - from your bog standard Yorkshire Tea to delicious hibiscus or peppermint "Good Earth" teabags, there is plenty to choose from.

EPIC "MAD BATTER" BROWNIES: once the class has finished, while you wait for your candle to set, you will enjoy some epic and huge brownies with more endless coffee and tea! If the sun is shining, you can even enjoy your brownies in the sunshine but if it is a bit on the chilly side, stay inside the heated tipi and chill, chat and relax with your friends (or make new ones)!

A little about the Brownies: Nearer to the event Hannah will email you the menu to choose from - but let them assure you, they are DELICIOUS! Hannah met Mad Batter at a recent market and fell in love with the brownies, so wanted to collaborate with them! Mad Batter Cakes are based in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. They focus on markets and food festivals, travelling all around. They create insanely delicious brownies and other cakes and Hannah fell in love with them at a recent market and was desperate to bring their goodies to her workshops! Note that they can cater for vegans but cannot offer Gluten free or nut-free options, as they don't have a gluten or nut-free kitchen. You are still welcome to join though, if you are gluten or nut-free and Hannah will provide an alternative sweet snack from an alternative provider. Is there an age limit?

Anyone over 14 is welcome! Friends, family and partners! All welcome! Please note this class is not appropriate for under 14s.

Why Choose this Candle Making Workshop?

This isn't your average workshop. The candle you create will be completely natural and you can even choose your candle jar out of a variety of colours. Hannah will talk you through every element of the process and it is a wonderful way to spend a summery Saturday morning! You will create your very own scent blend, made out of a choice of 12 essential oils. With Hannah's help, you will also leave equipped with a good knowledge of how to make your own candles at home.

What do you need to wear?

It is unlikely you will spill any oils or wax as we are working with small quantities and you have all the gear to ensure no spillages! But in the event that you do, you're welcome to wear something a little less special, so as to avoid getting it dirty!

Where is it?

The workshop takes place inside the lovely tipi at Elkstone Studios, Elkstone, Cheltenham, GL53 9PQ.

The unique tipi is set in the heart of the Cotswolds. There are several electric heaters, making it a cosy candle-making experience.

Can you drink alcohol?

This particular workshop is a non-alcoholic event, but there will be tea and coffee (as well as cream tea) and you're welcome to bring your own soft drinks in bottles. Hannah runs various other workshops where you can have a few tipples or you can host your own private workshop, if you're keen for a drink! Head to her website for more details.

Is there Parking at Elkstone Studios?

Yes! Parking is free on site for guests and there is even Electric Vehicle charging available.

What do you do to prepare?

Nothing! Just bring your lovely selves!
