KIBOU is a popular Japanese hot kitchen, ramen and sushi bar, inspired by the nostalgia of Tokyo’s bustling backstreets. Diners are spoilt for choice for vegan options year-round here. 

Over the years, their signature Volcano Roll has become one of its most talked-about dishes, gaining a cult-like status amongst diners who just can’t seem to get enough! In 2022 they challenged their creative sushi chefs to conjure up a new vegan Volcano Roll that would hit the same moreish, must-have notes amongst the meat-free community.

And the results didn’t disappoint, so say ‘hello’ to KIBOU’s Yasai Volcano Roll, featured below. A 10-piece futomaki sushi roll, stuffed with red pepper and avocado, then dipped in tempura batter, fried and drizzled with their own very special KIBOU sauces! Yum.

The Coconut Tree

The Coconut Tree is a bar and restaurant offering authentic Sri Lankan street food and sweet and fiery cocktails in a stripped back street style venue. 

Many Sri Lankan dishes are naturally vegan (and vegetarian, using coconut milk instead of dairy), infact the restaurant was a finalist in the 2020 Vegetarian & Vegan Awards' restaurant of the year award.

Mowgli Street Food

Mowgli opened in The Brewery Quarter in 2021. It has fast become a firm favourite by locals and visitors alike. Mowgli is all about how Indians eat at home and on their streets. Nisha Katona, the CEO and executive chef, was born to feed the raw need Indians have for tiffins full of fresh bright intense flavour.  Mowgli is not about the intimate, hushed dining experience. It is about the smash and grab zing of healthy, light, virtuosic herbs and spices.

The comprehensive vegan menu features the Holy Chow described as their 'vegan showstopper,' featuring spiced chickpea, potato, spinach, fresh ginger & mango served in a loaf, Calcutta Tangled Greens, a beloved home staple with sweet & nutty tangled cabbage and delicious handmade mango ice cones to satisfy that sweet tooth.

Pizza Express

Vegan, veggie or flexi? Or maybe just giving Veganuary a whirl. PizzaExpress in The Brewery Quarter has got you covered.

As well as vegan options featured on the main menu, PizzaExpress has a dedicated vegan menu available on request.

They're serving up a tonne of plant-based goodness - with timeless veganised classics, new creations and even desserts.

Menu highlights include the Vegan Ad Astra, topped with cajun spiced Quorn with sweet red peppers, red onion, tomato, garlic oil and vegan mozzarella alternative.

The Alchemist

The Alchemist is a cocktail bar & restaurant that celebrates molecular mixology, alchemy and craftsmanship.

It is a firm favourite for vegans with many delicious dishes on offer including nori crisps and padron peppers on the nibbles menu, plant burgers, cauliflower katsu curry and Bang Bang salad on the main menu plus several delectable vegan sides to choose from too, including giant onion rings and salt & pepper edamame beans. 

The Mahal

At The Mahal restaurant, it is all about flavour! Celebrating the wonderful Indian spices and ingredients that we all know and love.

There are several vegan and vegetarian dishes to enjoy here, including a seven-course vegan tasting menu to dig into. Featuring a medley of delights such as  Malabar vegetable curry and zucchini onion pakora and Wye Valley asparagus.

WoodKraft

13 Regent Street, Cheltenham, GL50 1HE

Spread across three floors of a beautiful period property on Regent Street, Woodkraft Cheltenham features the very best local, provincial produce using the philosophy of farm to fork.

 

At Woodkraft, they have a menu that caters well for those following a vegetarian or vegan diet, with breakfast, brunch and lunch offerings to tempt all diners. 

 

For breakfast, why not sample their avocado rostis or a vegan fry up? While for a spot of lunch, there is roasted beetroot salad and BBQ jackfruit wrap.

Vegetus

42 Winchcombe Street, Cheltenham, GL52 2ND

Vegetus is a 100% plant-based restaurant serving up an array of tasty dishes from a cosy little venue on Winchcombe Street.

 

The menu is inspired by the owners Spanish-Moroccan and Hungarian backgrounds. Offering a fusion of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes, as well as some twists on British and American classics. 

The Find

20 Regent Street, Cheltenham, GL50 1HE

Bringing the traditional English coffee house to Cheltenham, The Find is an inclusive, friendly cafe that aims to make everyone who crosses the threshold feel comfortable.

 

Vegan coffee-lovers have oat and soya milk alternatives to choose from, and the drinks menu also includes fruit smoothies and herbal teas.

 

 The café always has a selection of vegan cakes available which changes daily and they are happy to adapt their menu for vegans by swapping out ingredients.

All Bar One

Recently renovated All Bar One Cheltenham is a stylish space for spirited people to meet. Their menus are created so you can graze over tapas or sip on scroll-stopping cocktails to your heart's content.

There is a range of plant-based dishes on the menu that are available to order all day. From spicy corn ribs to beetroot quesadillas and the revolutionary Meatless Farm burger. A perfect accompaniment to the bars many delicious cocktails.  

 

The Swan

35 - 37 High Street, Cheltenhaam, GL50 1DX

The Swan is a fun and relaxed traditional free house serving the best local, independent drinks and authentic Indian dishes in the heart of Cheltenham.

 

The menu features a mix of small snack plates, chaat (snacks) and large plates, so you can easily share with friends. Vegan options include tandoori soya chaaps, Kerala mix vegetable curry and vegan biryani.

Pho Cafe

The Brewery Quarter, Cheltenhaam, GL50 4FA

Pho, brainchild of husband-and-wife-team Stephen and Juliette Wall, brings the vibrant taste of Southeast Asia to Cheltenham's Brewery Quarter.

 

Pho, as the name implies, specialises in Pho, a delicious rice noodle soup that is the national dish of Vietnam. Their menu is filled with with a plethora of vegan options, with tofu, mushrooms and THIS Isn't Chicken providing flavourful alternatives to their meat filled counterparts.
