Cheltenham Jazz Festival has a new free app thanks to a European-wide research project led by Birmingham City University. The app will provide a complete Festival companion so that Festival-goers can make the most of their Festival experience.

It aims to get audience members to the information they need as quickly as possible. The app allows a user to search and filter events, make a personal schedule, receive event reminders and find their way around the site using an interactive map.

Dr Craig Hamilton from the Birmingham Centre for Media and Cultural Research said “The BCU team are exploring innovative ways of planning and managing jazz festivals in online environments and we are keen to see how the app can become part of the Festival experience. In particular, we are interested in how people use the app as part of their visit to Cheltenham Jazz Festival 2019.”

The Independent festival app, which aims to provide the best possible user experience for festival-goers has been developed by Boma, it is a collaboration between Birmingham based web developers 1UP, and Kambe Events, the team behind Shambala Festival.
