Throughout 2024 visitors will be invited to join in a series of unique events to celebrate both the rich history of the castle in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, along with key moments in Lady Ashcombe‘s 50 years at Sudeley.

This makes her the longest-ever serving chatelaine of the historic estate. In honour of this significant milestone, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a specially curated series of events, celebrating both the quintessential Cotswold castle alongside Lady Ashcombe and her family.

“We are delighted to launch our 50th celebration series of events in 2024 and welcome visitors to Sudeley Castle & Gardens as we embark on a year filled with celebration and discovery,” said Lady Ashcombe, Chatelaine of Sudeley Castle. “The Sudeley team has carefully created a fantastic programme of immersive events, including the collaborative mixed art exhibition, The Art of Flowers. You can combine this with the NEW exhibition marking my 50-year milestone, a story that starts in the iconic 1970s!”

The Art of Flowers will be taking place during the May half term, including the Bank Holiday weekend from 25th to 31st May. Visitors will have the opportunity to celebrate the arrival of Spring and experience the marking of time through the seasons, with this collaborative exhibition between artist, Anna Masters, Helena Cavan and a collective of poets and musicians.

Blending visual art, poetry, music and participatory works, the eye-pleasing floral installation will be taking place in the beautiful St Mary’s Chapel, in celebration of Sudeley’s gardens in bloom. Running in the middle of Spring, the floral exhibition will provide a beautiful backdrop for poetry and readings in the morning, and early music performances in the afternoon between 2:30pm - 3:00pm.

The perfect activity to enjoy over the May Bank Holiday, rain or shine, and included within Sudeley Castle & Gardens general admission. Set against the stunning backdrop of the majestic castle, surrounded by striking views of the Cotswold Hills, there are 10 magnificent, award-winning gardens to explore which sweep around the historic castle and grounds. Additionally, over the May Half Term and Bank Holiday weekend, on Saturday 25th Monday and Bank Holiday Monday, visitors of all ages can participate in floral craft workshops with the hugely popular Dig & Delve. Expect anything from flower crown creations to beautiful floral pendants and pompom flowers in celebration of Spring blossoms.

A jam-packed day out for the whole family, visitors can indulge in a delicious lunch or Afternoon Tea from the brand-new food menu in the beautifully upgraded Castle Coach House and recently refurbished Pavilion Café, while little ones can burn off some energy in the impressive adventure playground and fun fort.
