Step into the entertaining world of one of the oldest amateur dramatic societies in the country, as the Cheltenham Operatic Dramatic Society (CODS) proudly presents ‘Be Our Guest’ - a brand-new musical production celebrating over 130 years of extraordinary theatre, taking place from 7th – 10th February 2024 at Cheltenham Playhouse.

With a rich history dating back to 1890, CODS invites residents of Gloucestershire and surrounding communities to join them as they continue their legacy of captivating live performances. ‘Be Our Guest’ is a vibrant musical revue that encapsulates the spirit of CODS. This dynamic show features selections from some of the most beloved productions from the last 20 years, showcasing CODS’ commitment to excellence and the diverse talent that has graced the stage over the years. Audiences can expect high-energy dance routines, inspired by sensational shows such as 'Sweet Charity' and 'Thoroughly Modern Millie', beautiful ballads from iconic musicals such as 'West Side Story', 'Beauty and the Beast', and 'Little Shop of Horrors'. And, of course, some classic comedy routines straight from 'The Producers' and 'Spamalot' - 'Be Our Guest' promises a little something for everyone! 

Over the years, CODS has staged an impressive array of productions that have left an indelible mark on the local theatrical landscape. Recent highlights include critically acclaimed performances of ‘School of Rock’, ‘Shrek’, ‘Evita’, ‘RENT’, 'Sister Act', 'Guys and Dolls', 'The 39 Steps', 'Legally Blonde', 'Calendar Girls', 'Little Shop of Horrors', 'Disney’s Beauty and the Beast', 'Avenue Q', 'The Full Monty', 'Annie', 'Blackadder Goes Forth', and 'Sweeney Todd’. Upcoming productions will continue to showcase their dedication to excellence with exciting shows such as, 'Kinky Boots' and ‘The Wedding Singer’.
