We invited Kirsty, one of our Visit Cheltenham family ambassadors, to attend the opening night premier of the new 4DX and VIP cinemas screens at The Brewery Quarter Cineworld Cheltenham on Thursday night and asked her to share her experience with our readers.

Kirsty is one of the hardworking volunteers who runs the hugely popular Entertaining the Kids on a Budget in Gloucestershire Facebook group. She has been sharing her top tips for entertaining kids to 20,000 followers for years so we felt she deserved some VIP red carpet treatment! Here is how she got on...

We felt incredibly lucky to attend the opening night premier of the new 4DX cinema and VIP cinemas screens at Cineworld Cheltenham . From the adverts we knew a little bit about what they were adding to the movie experience in Cheltenham but we had no idea how incredible it would be once we arrived.

VIP Cinema Screens

For £32 per person you can now experience the cinemas dedicated VIP restaurant upto 45 minutes before your film choice starts. The food choices were really varied, with something on offer for everyone. You can help yourself to any of the following; unlimited hot and cold soft drinks, hot dogs, nachos with lots of toppings and sweet or salted popcorn. On top of that there were pizzas with different toppings, 3 types of pasta all with garlic bread, soups, a salad bar, a dessert station and my favourite,  the whippy ice cream station complete with toppings.

You can take food with you into the cinema or eat them in the large seating area. There is also a bar if you wish to purchase alcoholic drinks. Once in the cinema the fantastic VIP staff are on hand to bring you anything you require from the food area. Although we didn't get to view the VIP cinema screens from the images I'd seen they have large reclining  'lazy boy style' chairs which look really comfy.

4DX Experience Cineworld Cheltenham

We chose to watch IT Chapter Two in 4DX and we were absolutely blown away by just how incredible the film was with all of the extra effects.

Before attending any 4DX please check the list of terms and conditions. For example no one under the age of 4 can attend, as well as anyone who suffers with motion sickness or anyone who is pregnant as well as a few other categories.  Full details can be found on the Cineworld website.

We choose seats in the middle of the cinema which was a great choice. The seats are incredibly comfy lots of space in the width and definitely lots of leg room. You can choose whether to keep the water switched on or off. We kept ours on and it definitely added to the film. As well as water the film includes wind, scents, smoke, lighting and lots of movement. The chairs vibrate as well as tilting forward backwards and side to side. This was incredibly well suited to both fight scenes and where there were chase scenes. The seats are well staged in the cinema to so you aren't distracted by the other seats moving around you.

Cost of the 4DX experience at Cineworld Cheltenham

Tickets are £16.30 for adults and £13.30 for children/students. I think this is definitely a fair price for all the added effects you get with the film. We came away incredibly impressed and we will definitely be back again soon. Thanks Cineworld Cheltenham for a fantastic evening and for Visit Cheltenham for inviting us to attend.
