Today, we are delighted to share five recommendations for places to eat in Cheltenham courtesy of local legend and professional loud phone user, Dom Joly.
Best known for Trigger Happy TV, Dom's a proud Cheltonian who loves the town almost as much as us, and he certainly knows his way around a menu!
We recently saw Dom at his new show - Speakeazy - held exclusively at The Steam & Whistle near Cheltenham station. This new venture blends music, comedy, chat and pizza into one unique night of laughter and surprises. You can catch him (and his special guests) at the Steam & Whistle on 5 June & 3 July.
But for now, let's eat some food...
Petit Coco - 2 Bath Street, GL50 1YE
For a taste of France set within intimate, date-vibe surroundings, he recommends Petit Coco. Expect the likes of Coq au Vin and Filet de Boeuf.
Prithvi - 37 Bath Road, GL53 7HG
For (possibly) Cheltenham's best restaurant, Dom suggests Prithvi, one of the poshest Indian restaurants you'll ever have. Housed within the home where Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones was born.
Ginger & Garlic - 334 High Street, GL50 3JF
Ginger & Garlic is Dom's recommendation for the tastiest meal in Cheltenham that won't break the bank! With a lively, communal atmosphere and delicious Asian-style BBQ.
The Tavern - 5 Royal Well Place, GL50 3DN
For classic, tasty pub grub and cosy pub vibes, head to The Tavern on Royal Well Place, which has a comprehensive menu of comforting favourites, including tacos, burgers, wings, and charcuterie.
The Tivoli - 36 Andover Road, GL50 2TJ
Finally, for the best Sunday lunch in town - Dom recommends the Tivoli, a local favourite which saw a large-scale renovation in 2024 as West Country pub landlord pair, Tom Noest and Peter Creed, took on the venue.
Catch Dom live at Dom Joly’s Speakeazy – his brand-new comedy night at the Steam & Whistle pub. Great stories, lots of laughs, and maybe even more foodie tips...
