Heritage Open Days, England's largest grassroots festival of heritage and culture, is back for another year of free talks and tours across England, including our Regency town Cheltenham.

Regency Cheltenham buildings open for Heritage Open Days

Taking place from 8 to 17 September 2023, the dedicated volunteers who run this annual event have once again put together a robust programme. Exploring the themes of Creativity Unwrapped and Secret Places and allowing visitors and residents alike to see behind the doors of some of Cheltenham’s most interesting buildings and learn more about our town’s rich history.

There are 70 fantastic events to choose from – 40% more than last year. With 21 open buildings (hidden gems), no need to pre-book, 18 guided walks, 21 talks, and 4 plays including a Mummers play around town, all for free.

Places are being snapped up, with over 200 bookings since going live on the 1 August. The Cheltenham Street Art Tour and Great Women Sculptors are already fully-booked, with the Bath Road Walk and tour of Cheltenham Ladies' College looking to follow suit soon. So, act quickly and don't miss out!

Bookings are being taken now for:

• Secret Cheltenham A-Z

• Curator-led tours at The Wilson

• Votes for Women! Walk

• Aristocrats, Admirals and an Architect

You can download a full, digital program from cheltcivicsoc.org, while bookings for individual events can be made by email to [email protected].
