280,627 visitors attended Cheltenham Racecourse 15 - 18 March 2022. From hotels and restaurants to taxi drivers and shops, the economic ripple effect from Cheltenham Festival, referred to locally as Race Week, extends far beyond the racecourse, Cheltenham and even Gloucestershire. 

The 2022 Cheltenham Festival was worth an estimated £274 million to the local economy, according to the results of a special report undertaken by the University of Gloucestershire.

Day One - Cheltenham Festival Photos

First video shows crowds arriving at Cheltenham Racecourse and horses on the gallops in the morning, prior to the Festival commencing.

Second video shows the record breaking crowds of  68,506 racing fans who enjoyed seven thrilling races. With course records being broken, Rachael Blackmore making history (again!) and TWO first Festival winners - Day One kicked of Race Week in style.

Day Two - Cheltenham Festival - Ladies Day Photos

The rain didn’t put a dampener on day two of The Festival, with big upsets, first time winners and a final goodbye to Tiger Roll, a five-time winner at The Festival, who retired following his run yesterday.

Hats and umbrellas were the must-have accessories for Ladies Day. Celebrities and royalty spotted in the crowds include Princess Anne, Zara and Mike Tindell, TV presenter Eamonn Holmes with co-presenter Isabel Webster and Lystra Adams from Real Housewives of Cheshire

Day Three - Cheltenham Festival - St Patrick's Thursday Photos

St Patrick's Day saw racegoers, and the sunshine, return to The Festival for an exhilarating day of action. The horses and jockeys put on a special show in front of a star-studded crowd including BBC's Countryfile presenter and Cotswold Farm Park owner Adam Henson and wife Charlotte, Princess Anne with Zara and Mike Tindall, Radio and TV presenter Charlotte Hawkins, Chris Hughes, Rosie Tapner and many more.

Day Four - Cheltenham Festival - Gold Cup Day Photos

Our video features just a few of our favourite photos from the fourth & final day of The Festival. Over 70,000 people enjoyed seven thrilling races, including the famous Boodles Gold Cup won by 15 lengths by Rachael Blackmore and A Plus Tard, making Rachael the first female jockey to win the prestigious Gold Cup.

The glorious sunny day featured record breakers, world-class racing and history makers. A truly memorable day for any racing fan.
