January is here, and with that comes a wealth of sales, with savings to be found everywhere. With Cheltenham’s thriving high street, and new shops opening in the Brewery Quarter all the time, there is no shortage of shops to visit and enjoy. However, we thought it would be good to focus on some of the best independent businesses in Cheltenham and celebrate the variety and quality present all around the town. Here are our top picks for places to visit for all of your independent shopping needs this January.

Montpellier:

Montpellier is home to some of the best Cheltenham has to offer from independent businesses, including a huge selection of bars and cafés, dispersed between the boutique stores. Here are just a few of the diverse range of shops that are on offer-

The Union Project Design + Home:

Located opposite the Queen’s Hotel, they offer some of the best homeware and lifestyle products available in the area. Curating the best from Japan and Scandinavia, the store has a focus on well designed, functional products that will last.

Montpellier Wine Bar is the perfect place to go for refreshment when shopping at the wealth of boutique shops in the area. Montpellier is a great social hub located in the heart of Cheltenham.

Tivoli, Bath Road and the Suffolks

Tivoli, Bath Road and The Suffolks are another set of brilliant districts in Cheltenham, featuring a wealth of shops for both visitors and the local community. They are each a distinct area, but it is possible to walk from one district to the other seamlessly and take in all they have to offer. They all feature some great independent retailers including bookshops, hairdressers, and brilliant local pubs.

Maison Chaplais –

A local delicatessen and Café, this is the perfect spot for delicious, cooked to order food, perfect for breakfast and lunch. Whether you are just dropping by, or you want to spend longer winding down, this is a great location, renowned for its brilliant menu.
