Cycling in Cheltenham
Cheltenham’s town centre is readily accessible for all cycling abilities, being relatively flat and compact. On a bike you can easily cycle all over Cheltenham town centre on marked cycle lanes or shared pedestrian/cyclist pavements, hopping on and off to enjoy the many attractions at your leisure.
The Sustrans Honeybourne Line (NCN Route 41) connects the railway station to the centre of town and also forks up to Pittville Park and the Pump Rooms along an old railway track. This makes for easy and picturesque cycling for all abilities and ages, and a convenient and traffic-free way for visitors to ride into town.
Meanwhile, the work-in-progress Gloucestershire Cycle Spine - which aims to connect Bishop's Cleeve to Stroud via Gloucester and Cheltenham - recently finalised the B4063 Gloucester to Cheltenham stretch, linking the two via Longlevens, Churchdown and Staverton.
Throughout town, the cycle network enables bikes to cycle along contraflow cycle lanes through The Suffolks, Montpellier, the Town Hall, Imperial Gardens, and Sandford Park.
Free and paid-for bike parking is also easily accessible across the town, with new, rentable lockups dotted throughout the centre.
