History of the Waterstones Store
In 1826 it was built as private house for an artist called Mr Millet. In 1856 it became The Imperial Hotel, then A Gentleman's Club called The Imperial Club. In 1874 is became The Post Office. Later in 1987 Hoopers department store then Ottakers book shop and currently Waterstones.
