The partners in 5 and 6 North Place have invested £500,000 in the refurbishment of the two Grade II listed buildings, which were built in the 1820s and have been in the family since 1979.

The luxury regency apartments will be a home-from-home alternative to a hotel, ideal for business travellers, long-term contractors, as a stop-gap when moving house or for tourists exploring Cheltenham and the Cotswolds.

Work started on the transformation of the former long-term tenancy apartments in June. Building work was carried out by SPL Carpentry, with interior design by Cheltenham-based Emily Hunt Interiors.

Apartments range from studio apartments to one and two-bed apartments. Each of the high-end apartments has dedicated Wifi, a keyless entry system, TV, bespoke bed, dishwasher, microwave, washer-drier, oven and CCTV for security.

Apartments also include parking, as well as EV charging and bike storage. The ground floor apartments are pet friendly.

Jonathan Viney, who is a partner in the business with his wife Sally and parents-in-law, Richard and Deanna Carter, said: "We're pricing it in a way that is very competitive for a night, but we've given all the comfort and relaxation you'd want when you're away.

"This could be someone's home, but we've decided to transform it into serviced apartments to help support the economy of Cheltenham."

Bathroom, bedroom and living room

Having started the refurbishment from scratch, the business partners have been able to make them as sustainable as possible. The aim is to be the most sustainable serviced apartments in the centre of Cheltenham.

Jonathan continued: "We use 100% renewable fuels in the apartments, no gas. Electricity is supplied by solar and wind only.

"There are no baths, only showers, therefore reducing the amount of water used. All the interior paint is water-based, the lightbulbs are the latest LEDs and the beds are sustainably sourced.

"If someone would like to clean up after themselves, the cleaning materials are sustainably sourced and kind to animals. We use recycled aluminium tins from Clean Living and refill them and reuse them each time."
