Families are invited to enjoy a fun February half term day out as steam trains and hands-on children’s activities come together at Winchcombe Station, from 17 to 20 February.
During the school break, visitors can step back in time and travel by steam train through the beautiful Cotswolds, before alighting at Winchcombe Station for a day of imaginative fun at Trainmaster Kids’ Playtime.
Jack Boskett, Head of Marketing at the GWSR says: “The lovely Tim Mitchell building at Winchcombe station will be transformed into an exciting indoor play space, filled with railway-themed activities. There’ll be hands-on train sets, tracks, tunnels and interactive play designed to spark creativity and keep young minds entertained. The event is perfect for families looking to combine a classic steam train experience with safe, engaging playtime in a welcoming environment. And I’m certain that parents and grandparents will enjoy the fun, too!”

A day ticket includes unlimited steam train travel for the day between Broadway and Winchcombe, with services also calling at Toddington (please note, the line to Cheltenham Racecourse is closed for essential engineering works).
Entry to Trainmaster Kids’ Playtime at Winchcombe Station is only included with a valid train ticket, along with access to all the station facilities, shops and tea rooms along the line. The GWSR’s model railway carriage at Winchcombe will also be open.
Families can board the steam train at Broadway or Toddington (plenty of car parking at both stations, pay and display at Broadway) and travel to Winchcombe for their playtime session before continuing their journey or returning later in the day. Entry to the Tim Mitchell building is only possible with a valid GWSR train ticket.
The event is hosted by the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway in association with Trainmaster Gloucestershire, Worcestershire & Herefordshire. This is the first of many exciting events the railway has planned for the year ahead.
For full details, ticket information and timetables, visitors are encouraged to check the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway website at www.gwsr.com, or social media channels. However, tickets will also be available from Broadway and Toddington booking offices on the day.
Please note that trains will not be running from Cheltenham Racecourse during February half-term due to essential engineering work being carried out on the railway.
