The man who revolutionised comedy with a big mobile phone a menagerie of squirrels and a giant snail is officially coming home to Cheltenham!
To celebrate a quarter-century of the ground-breaking, multi-award-winning, hidden camera phenomenon Trigger Happy TV- a show that sold to 80 countries; Dom Joly is embarking on a massive 100-date national tour - and the most anticipated date on the calendar is in his beloved hometown of Cheltenham.
Dom Joly was the original meme creator. He effectively mastered You Tube style comedy before You Tube and has been widely copied but never equalled. His smart, anarchic approach didn't just define the early Noughties; it sparked a global comedy revolution, reinventing hidden camera, that remains the blueprint for a lot of viral content today.
This announcement follows a triumphant night at the Royal Albert Hall last week. Dom took to the stage to host and perform at the Teenage Cancer Trust comedy night, curated by Robert Smith of The Cure. In a standout performance, Dom shared the spotlight with comedy royalty and resurrected some of his most loved Trigger Happy characters, proving that his unique brand of mischief is more necessary than ever.
For the first time in decades, this 25th Anniversary Tour brings those legendary characters back to life in a live show. Trigger Happy TV fans will be taken behind the scenes of the legendary show with bloopers, unseen original footage and, most excitingly brand new material. Expect to learn more about The Giant Snail’s agonizingly slow zebra-crossing commutes. When Dom got arrested as a KGB Spy on his eternal quest for "Grey Squirrel.” And, of course, you’ll learn all about THAT giant mobile phone and how it came about.
Home turf victory at Parabola Arts Centre, Cheltenham
Dom who brought hit ‘Dom Joly’s SpeakeaZy’ to Cheltenham at the independent Steam & Whistle in Cheltenham. A year into its residency this April, SpeakeaZy has become the town’s best-kept secret, consistently selling out weeks in advance.
The national tour will land at the Parabola Arts Centre (PAC) on Saturday 5th December 2026. Known for its world-class acoustics and intimate atmosphere, the PAC is the perfect stage for Dom to give us two hours of hidden camera hilarity.
While the national tour spans 100 dates, the Cheltenham show at the Parabola is officially the one to watch. In Dom’s own backyard, it is set to be the most personal, and most anticipated night of the entire run.
Quote from Dom - "I can’t believe it’s been twenty-five years since I first started shouting into a giant mobile phone. Trigger Happy TV changed my life, and bringing these characters back for a massive anniversary tour is a total blast. Cheltenham is my home, and while the SpeakeaZy at the Steam & Whistle has been incredible, bringing the full Trigger Happy chaos to the Parabola is going to be a level up. I can't wait to share some brand-new mayhem with my hometown audience."
A new mystery unfolding
