Just ten minutes from Cheltenham, set within 50 acres of peaceful Cotswold countryside, Ian Coley Sporting has become one of the region’s most impressive outdoor attractions - and proudly holds the title of CPSA Shooting Ground of the Year 2025. Whether you're a complete beginner, a seasoned shot, or simply looking for an unforgettable countryside experience, the ground offers something for everyone.
A warm Cotswold welcome
Ian Coley Sporting is run by a small, friendly team who take pride in offering a relaxed and welcoming experience. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, there’s always someone on hand to help - whether you’re checking in, heading out for a lesson or browsing the shop.
Clay shooting for everyone
The team prides itself on making the sport approachable for all. Whether you’re stepping into the sport for the first time or sharpening elite skills, the facilities cater for all levels.
The ground offers:
- 25+ Sporting stands
- Two permanent Sportrap layouts
- Three high towers
- A brand-new grouse butt
- A stunning woodland extension featuring eight additional stands
Weekly target changes ensure the course stays fresh, varied and challenging - and during the game season, driven-style targets remain in place a little longer to help shooters prepare.
Practice sessions run using a simple pay‑and‑play Claymate system, allowing visitors to shoot at their own pace, solo or with friends, with grounds staff on hand for assistance.

Expert tuition in a relaxed setting
Tuition at Coley’s is tailored, welcoming and highly regarded. Beginners often start with a Have‑A‑Go session, which includes clays, cartridges, safety equipment and expert instruction - the perfect introduction. More experienced shots can book one‑to‑one lessons, working on technique, confidence, and target‑specific challenges.
Gun fitting is also a major part of the offering. With access to try‑guns and demonstrators, the team ensures each shooter finds a setup that feels natural and improves accuracy.
A beautiful new Clubhouse
In 2023, the ground completed a major clubhouse extension, transforming the visitor experience.
Guests now enjoy:
- A bright, modern café
- A stylish events space for up to 120 guests
- A larger, more welcoming reception
- An expanded shop and country clothing area
It has quickly become one of the most versatile countryside venues in the region - ideal for corporate days, meetings, competitions and product launches.

Shop, browse, discover
The renowned gunroom houses over 1,000 guns, from first‑time options to high‑end pairs. The country store stocks leading brands such as Schöffel, Holland Cooper, FORTIS, Harkila, Ridgeline, Meindl and Le Chameau - all chosen for quality, durability and style.
