This spring, Imperial Gardens will play host to a spectacular attraction as the tallest observation wheel ever to visit Cheltenham arrives from 26 March to 12 April.
Standing at an impressive 36 metres high - the height of an 11-storey building - the wheel will offer breathtaking panoramic views across the Regency rooftops of Cheltenham, surrounding countryside and across to the Cotswolds and Malvern Hills, giving visitors a completely new perspective of the town during one of its most vibrant times of year.
The travelling observation wheel is operated by JCB Events South West Ltd, a Cheltenham-based, family-run business with years of experience delivering large-scale attractions across the UK. The wheel has become a popular feature at destinations nationwide, from busy town centres to iconic coastal locations, known for creating a striking visual centrepiece that enhances local events and boosts footfall for surrounding businesses. This will be the first time their Observation Wheel has been to Imperial Gardens.
Behind the scenes, the scale of the operation is just as impressive. The wheel is transported across the country using four articulated trucks, with a specialist team managing a carefully coordinated build. The installation process takes approximately three days to assemble, followed by a further three days for dismantling, ensuring the highest standards of safety, precision, and presentation throughout.
The wheel features 24 enclosed passenger capsules, providing a comfortable, all-weather experience for visitors. It also includes one wheelchair accessible capsule (suitable for standard-size wheelchairs), ensuring the attraction can be enjoyed by as many people as possible.
