With World Theatre Day fast approaching (Friday 27 March), we’re celebrating Cheltenham’s amazing theatrical venues.

We’re lucky to be home to several wonderful theatres and a packed calendar of world-class performances, from West End hits and indie darlings to household names from comedy and music. We know we say it a lot, but there truly is something for everyone!

Hadestown: Teen Edition at the Cheltenham Playhouse – 1–4 April 2026

See talented students from the Playhouse's acclaimed Theatre Studio performing arts school take to the stage in a performance of Hadestown: Teen Edition. Set to a thrilling score mixing folk, jazz and blues, the story weaves together ancient myths with a modern twist.

The Dolly Show at the Bacon Theatre – 16 April 2026

Experience the iconic songs of music legend Dolly Parton in this celebration of her life and music, helmed by Kelly O’Brien, the world’s number one Dolly Parton tribute. From Jolene to Islands in the Stream, this show sparkles with rhinestone-studded magic.

A Night at the Movies Cabaret at the Bacon Theatre – 17 April 2026

Take a musical trip down memory lane with Behind The Curtain Theatre Productions, whose new show A Night at the Movies Cabaret features the best in film music from the 1950s to the 2020s. From Love Actually to A Star is Born, it's a cinematic journey not to be missed.

The Constant Wife at the Everyman – 20–25 April 2026

The Royal Shakespeare Company comes to Cheltenham this spring. Be transported to the Roaring Twenties in Somerset Maugham’s glittering comedy The Constant Wife, starring Mr Selfridge star Kara Tointon, with original music composed by Jamie Cullen.

Amy & Carlos: Reborn at Cheltenham Town Hall – 9 June 2026

I'm Sorry, Prime Minister at the Everyman – 23–27 June 2026

Direct from the West End, I'm Sorry Prime Minister is the long-awaited final chapter of the political satire which started with Yes, Minster and Yes, Prime Minister. With razor-sharp wit and more double-speak than a press briefing, this is political comedy at its most timeless.
