Live Music in Cheltenham

If you are into your live music, or are a budding musician waiting to be discovered, here are some of the venues across Cheltenham where you can enjoy a night out of gigs, open mic nights, comedy and more...

Cheltenham Town Hall is Cheltenham’s biggest live music venue.  This stunning Regency building plays host to music, comedy and is a leading venue for the many festivals that take place in the town.

Smokey Joe's in Bennington Street is a retro diner which hosts regular gigs, plus an open mic night on every first Wednesday of the month.

The Cotswold Inn, Portland Street is an old school pub. It holds an acoustic open mic on a Sunday, open mic on a Tuesday, and live music Saturday evenings.

The Bath Tavern is another traditional old school pub, located in Bath Street. It holds an open mic on Thursday, plus regular gigs and ‘jam nights’.

The Frog and Fiddle pub on the High Street is popular with students.  With teapot cocktails, pool tables, live sport on 14 screens and live music it's a buzzing hangout. They have separate room called ‘the barn’ where they put on regular gigs, and each yeat theu host the "Frogfest" festival!

Cheltenham underground is a local promoter.  They put on  ‘secret house shows’ in Cheltenham - an intimate gig in a living room, amazing if you get a chance to catch one! Join their Facebook group to be get a ticket. They also offer live music each month at both The Swan and The Railway (bistro-pubs), as well as festivals at both these venues - Swanfest and a Cider Festival at The Railway.

The Old Restoration pub on the High Street is described as "a brilliant atmosphere in a proper, old pub".  They hold an open mic night Thursday.

The 2 Pigs is Cheltenham's Premier Alternative Club and Live Music Venue with a rock/metal nightclub and gigs most Fridays and Saturdays.

Shoot Your Hoops is another Cheltenham based promoter mainly in the genres of  rock/metal/punk music. They hold a lot of gigs at The 2 Pids and The Frog and Fiddle.

Join The Strand Bar (and restaurant) on the High Street on the last Thursday of every month for Scallywags Comedy. The MC is the very talented Jon Wagstaffe. Jon’s claim to fame is that he’s Tewkesbury’s finest (and only) stand-up comic. They also host live music.

The Everyman Theatre put on gigs in their bar, and also have a small studio place where they put on gigs.
