Family Fun in Cheltenham

Family Activities, Attractions and Things to Do in Cheltenham

You may think of Cheltenham as a regency town full of architecture and heritage, and therefore a town that may not have a lot to offer for a day out or short break for families, but you would be very much mistaken!

Cheltenham has a lot to offer children of all ages, both fun and educational, some of which has been summarised in our features on Family Outdoor Activities and Family Indoor Activities, because, of course, one can never guarantee the weather!

Cheltenham is home to the famous Cheltenham Festival series which takes place throughout the town every year, all of which have a family-friendly programme of events.

Cheltenham also has a growing number of attractions, many of which host events for children and families throughout the year, and in particular during the school holidays.  These include exhibitions, arts and crafts, theatre, music, sports and outdoor activities.

There are also many family friendly attractions within easy reach of Cheltenham, making our town an ideal base to visit places such as Adam Henson's Cotswold Farm Park, Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, Sudeley Castle, The National Trust's Chedworth Roman Villa and Prinknash Bird and Deer Park.

Fortunate enough to have many parks and open spaces with play areas and lots of open space to run around, play games, ride a bike and have a picnic, you can enjoy the outdoors with your family for free!  In fact, Pittville Park has three play areas, one including a pet’s corner as well as a boating lake, golf, tennis, skate park, on site toilets and award winning cafe.
