We are excited to announce Escape Rooms Cheltenham will be opening their doors on June 25th with an intriguing new escape room with a GCHQ-inspired theme!  Bookings are now being taken online.  Read on for full details...

Operation Foresight is set in 1969, and requires players to form a task force to tackle the threat of organised crime in the UK, in the wake of the removal of the “Firm”, headed up by the Kray twins, in that year. The team have just one hour to decipher, analyse and report on intelligence gathered from suspected rival underworld gangs.

Operation Foresight will also be the first permanent escape room created by Escape Rooms Cheltenham at their new town centre venue in Winchcombe Street. The puzzle-setting business moved to Winchcombe St in March, after three years entertaining escape room players and ultimately outgrowing their original Coronation Square venue.

GCHQ Escape Room, Cheltenham

To date, Escape Rooms Cheltenham have created “pop-up” escape rooms that run for six months and then “once they’re gone, they’re gone”. These regularly changing rooms will continue at the new venue, with Hacked (a cyber theme) and Hester’s Craft (a fantasy/witchcraft theme) also being launched this summer, and a Holst-based theme, The Missing Piece, to follow later in the year. However, they decided that a flagship permanent room will also be an exciting addition to the new venue.

Megan Prendergast, Product Director, Escape Rooms Cheltenham“We wanted to create a must-do escape room unique to Cheltenham, that will attract players to the town, as well as be enjoyed by locals. GCHQ was the obvious choice for a theme and we have worked hard to create a room that we feel represents this local icon. We know our players like the regularly changing pop-up rooms, but we were able to invest much more into new features for this permanent room and we believe our players will love it!”

Operation Foresight encourages the same analytical, problem-solving and teamworking skills GCHQ is famed for today, but is set in the pre-Internet age of the 1960s, in order to create a much more physical environment for the players to interact with.

Like all the escape rooms, Operation Foresight will be available in a beginner and challenging level, so it can be enjoyed by everyone, from beginners to GCHQ codebreakers themselves!

Room bookings or gift vouchers are available now from their website: EscapeRoomsCheltenham.co.uk
