Stagecoach West’s bus services will increase from Tuesday 6th April, in preparation for the next phase of the Government’s easing of lockdown restrictions. The changes will bring Stagecoach West’s services back to pre-lockdown levels and support local residents in a safe and gradual return to normal life.

The frequency of some bus routes had been temporarily reduced in response to lockdown measures. However, the company has continued to operate all services across the region to maintain the level of bus services required for essential travel by key workers. The latest changes mean that bus services will return to normal frequencies across the network as Stagecoach prepares for more passengers.

Rupert Cox, Managing Director at Stagecoach West, said: “We are really pleased to be increasing the frequency of our services across the West network in April as the region prepares for the next phase of lockdown restrictions easing. By increasing the frequency of services, we can ensure our community stays connected and that everyone who wants to travel can do so with confidence. The busy bus feature on our app offers further reassurance to customers who would prefer to travel on quieter services. The feature uses a simple traffic light system to allow passengers to identify busier services and travel at alternative times if they would prefer.

“The situation is constantly evolving, so we will continue to monitor the position and liaise closely with government and local authorities, responding to any changes where necessary to ensure our customers and staff remain safe.”

Throughout the pandemic, Stagecoach has implemented several new procedures and policies designed to keep passengers safe, including additional hygiene measures to protect passengers, frontline bus workers and office-based staff. Social distancing measures remain in place across all services and passengers must always wear a facemask, unless they are medically exempt.
