Pump Room Pittville Park

Cheltenham Playgrounds and Gardens

Much to the delight of kids (and their exhausted parents) our local playgrounds and outdoor fitness equipment reopened on the 4 July including Pittville Park playground and Sandford Park playground.

Imperial Gardens & Montpellier Gardens

Imperial Gardens and Montpellier Gardens have been open for visitors throughout the pandemic. The Garden Bar in Imperial Gardens and the Garden Café in Montpellier Gardens have both opened recently and are great spots to grab some refreshments to enjoy outdoors with family and friends.  For more al fresco dining options check out our guide to Best Picnic Spots in Cheltenham.

Pittville Pump Room

The actual building itself is still closed to visitors however the new outdoor café, open daily, is proving to be a big hit. Particularly at the weekend when socially distanced dancing has been taking place to the front of the Pump Room.  Check out the full schedule of weekend entertainment here – Pittville Pump Room summer entertainment.

The Boathouse Boat Hire & Tennis Courts

Pittville Park & Montpellier Gardens

The Boathouse Cafe is open and serving refreshments.  Boat hire is currently not available.  Tennis courts can be hired via Tennis in the Park. Strict social distancing measures are in place.

Cycle hire from The Bicycle Hub

Open as usual with social distancing measures in place.  9.30am – 5.30am, seven days a week.  Experience the Regency Cycle Trail for just £10.  Check out our Recommended Cheltenham Cycle Routes.

Major attractions in & around Cheltenham

Cheltenham Racecourse

The next horse racing event is not until The Showcase 23-24 October. Unfortunately the Drive-In Concerts that were due to take place as part of a series around the UK have been cancelled due to local lockdowns.

Cotswold Farm Park

Our local farm park in Guiting Power is now open from 9.30am – 5pm daily. They are operating hourly timeslots for entries, these must be pre-booked online, to stagger arrivals and ensure a safe and enjoyable visit for all. The farm park is also operating a cashless system on site and will only be able to take payments for food and drink by card.

Sudeley Castle

Our local castle, Sudeley Castle in Winchcombe, will reopen its doors on Monday 20 July. The gardens, playground, exhibitions, church, pantry and cafe areas will all reopen with new safety measures in place. The private family rooms will stay closed for the duration of the 2020 season (Library, Morning Room, Chandos Bedroom and Katherine Parr Anteroom). All tickets to be purchased online only  Further details about their social distancing measures can be found here. 

Primrose Vale Farm Shop and Pick Your Own Fruit

The shop is open daily.  Tickets must be booked in advance for customers wishing to pick their own fruit.  Social distancing measures are in place including reduced capacities in the fields and a one way system. Reserve a slot on the Primrose Vale website.

Sandford Parks Lido

The Sandford Parks Lido team have just announced that the Lido will reopen for members on the 20 July and non members from the 27 July. Tickets must be purchased in advance and the childrens pools will remain closed.

Latest updates on Cheltenham Theatres...

The government has not announced plans for theatres to reopen as yet (14 July). All of our local theatres listed below therefore remain closed. Many performances have been rescheduled to later on in the year or 2021. Please remain patient with the box office staff as many have been furloughed so it may take some time to reply regarding refunds and rescheduled dates.  Please try to accept new dates rather than refunds if you can to help our local theatres financially during this difficult time. We will post updates here as we receive them.

Cheltenham Town Hall – Please note that the Garden Bar in Imperial Gardens, owned by the Cheltenham Trust, is open for takeaway.

Everyman Theatre – Please note the Everyman Café Bar is open for takeaway and full table service.

Leisure At Cheltenham and Prince of Wales Stadium – Timetable announcement expected soon. Message from the Leisure At team – ‘We welcome the announcement from the government that indoor sports and leisure facilities can reopen from 25 July. We will shortly be providing information on our timetable to reopen Leisure at Cheltenham and will update our leisure members as soon as possible. Please follow our social media posts for latest information.’

Hollywood Bowl Cheltenham – No confirmed reopening date as yet. Message from the Hollywood Bowl team – ‘Following the latest directive from the UK Government on 23rd June our bowling centres remain temporarily closed. Whilst we don’t know an exact date, it is our intention to re-open our centres as soon as we are given guidance to do so. We are now taking advance bookings from 1st August, so it's time to plan your family summer outing to guarantee your lane.’
