Light Up Cheltenham got off to a spectacular start last night with thousands of spectators attending the launch event. The evening saw Spark! a street theatre drumming group put on a dazzling performance finishing at Imperial Gardens. Spectators were then able to take the opportunity to ride on the giant observation wheel, drink Light Up themed cocktails or go on a tour around the buildings, either with a blue badge tourist guide or on a free self-guided tour.

The launch marks the beginning of three weeks of Light Up Cheltenham, an event run by Cheltenham Business Improvement District (BID), which sees over 30 buildings dramatically lit up across our Regency town.

The three weeks, which include February half term, will see thousands of visitors flock to Cheltenham to take in the beautiful illuminations which have made our town an annual destination for locals and visitors alike.

Visitors will also be able to spot some different illuminations whilst the event is running including Valentine’s Day which will see the observation wheel and most of the buildings go red, creating a romantic and memorable backdrop for those visiting.

Alongside these special illuminations, the 30+ buildings will continue to be dramatically lit until Sunday 23 February with guided tours on offer, a giant observation wheel and self-guided tours all offering visitors something a little different to experience during the normally rather dull month of February.
