The faint sound of Christmas bells are creeping up on us and the present shopping has some-what commenced. Don’t start wishing November away though as we have some fabulous events taking place in Cheltenham this month, many that will gently ease you into the festive season!

Cheltenham Real Ale Festival
Date: 1-2 November
Location: Princess Hall, Cheltenham Ladies’ College
Calling all ale lovers! The fourth Cheltenham Real Ale Festival is set to be held in the beautiful surroundings of Princess Hall inside Cheltenham Ladies’ College. With 80 different real ales up for offer, you’ll get the chance to sample a large range of ales, ciders and vegan beers.

The biggest Gloucestershire Derby in history with both teams going well at the top of League Two, this is a match not to miss!
Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra
Date: 9 November
Location: The Centaur, Cheltenham Racecourse
Boogie-woogie pianist Jools Holland is making a return to Cheltenham this November with his rhythm and blues band. Special guests the fabulously talented and popular artists, Ruby Turner, Louise Marshall, Gilson Lavis, Christopher Holland and BRIT award winner Eddi Reader.
The November Meeting
Date: 15-17 November
Location: Cheltenham Racecourse.
Enjoy three days of unmissable racing at the Home of Jump Racing. As well as all of the racing action, there will be live performances by The Wurzels in The Centaur on the 15th. On Sunday 17th, Family Fun Raceday, under 18s will be able to attend the races for free and with kids activities included, you can be sure they will be happily entertained all day long!
Racing fans should also check out the November Meeting Preview Evening at Ellenborough Park with National Hunt jockey, Richard Johnson OBE and trainer Olly Murphy chaired by broadcaster and Sky Sports Racing presenter Mike Cattermole.

RESPECT - The Aretha Franklin Songbook
Date: 6 November
Location: Everyman Theatre
Celebrate the Queen of Soul this month in a live concert that pays tribute to the legendary Aretha Franklin. Lead vocalists, Stacy Francis, Cleopatra Higgins, Tanya Edwards and Cleo Stewart are accompanied by a live band and gospel choir. This is sure to be a great night!
An Audience with Harry Redknapp
Date: 6 November
Location: Cheltenham Town Hall
King of the Jungle and English football manager, Harry Redknapp, is coming to town to talk about the funniest moments in his football and celebrity career. He’ll be telling tales of his time in I’m a Celeb, as well as answering audience questions. VIP tickets include a photo taken with Harry, plus a signed photo.
An evening with Rob Beckett
Date: 28 November
Location: Cheltenham Racecourse
The ‘Mouth of the South’ is back on tour with his brand new stand up tour - Wallop. After a long break from stand-up, Rob Beckett has come back to fill us in and make us all laugh.

Peter Pan Goes Wrong

Location: Everyman Theatre
This comical West-end sensation is soaring its way into Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre. Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society unravels their tale of Peter Pan, taking us on a hilarious yet ingenious journey by striking the funny bone of children and parents alike. This fun and light-hearted play is bound to put you in the festive spirit.
Enchanted Sudeley
Date:26 October - 3 November
Location: Sudeley Castle and Gardens
Sudeley Castle is becoming the magical home to enchanted scenes this Halloween. Follow a fairy tale trail around the castle, and its gardens, to discover scenes from the most loved fairy tales, such as Snow White and Sleeping Beauty.

Morgan and West: Unbelievable Science

Location: Bacon Theatre, Dean Close School
Two scientists, Morgan and West are coming to Cheltenham to show how crazy science can be. There will be explosive thrills and perhaps even some dramatic spills that are guaranteed to put the audience on the edge of their seats. The duo will be proving that science is exhilarating and inspiring, no matter what age.
Bake Back in Time
Date: 16 November (and 7 December)
Location: Holst Birthplace Museum
Learn to bake drop scones just like they used to be. Watch and taste as this Victorian favourite is freshly baked on the museum coal-fired range.
Firework displays in Cheltenham

Cheltenham Cricket Club Fireworks Party
Date: 1 November
Location: Princes Street, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, GL52 6BE
The annual display, held at Cheltenham Cricket Club, promises to be its best one yet! With mulled wine, real ale and food stalls, you can really make an evening of it. There will even be a silent display, before the main fireworks are let off, for those with children or simply whose who would prefer not to start the month off with a bang!
Cheltenham Racecourse Firework Display
Date: 2 November
Location: Cheltenham Racecourse, Evesham Road, Cheltenham GL50 4SH
The spectacular fireworks display at the racecourse is a 30 year-old tradition. And as well as the dazzling fireworks, a funfair will be on site - making it the perfect family evening out. To top it all off, all of the money raised from the evening will be donated to local charities.

Dates: 21 Nov - 14 Dec. (Replaced from the 17th - 24th December by the Christmas Arts & Crafts Market).
Location: The Promenade, outside House of Fraser / Cavendish House.
Browse wooden chalets selling a wide range of Christmas gifts, crafts, food and drink whilst sipping on mulled wine and soaking up the festive atmosphere with family and friends.
Cheltenham Christmas Lights Switch On

The Cheltenham Christmas lights switch on is sure to get you into the festive spirit with a traditional Christmas tale to keep all ages entertained.
Inspired by Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol the three ghosts of Christmas will lead crowds through the town, reminding us that Christmas is a time for people to come together. After following the ghosts gather near The Queens Hotel to join Father Christmas to switch on the lights.
Christmas Panto! Cinderella at The Everyman Theatre
Dates: 29 November - 12 January
Location: The Everyman Theatre
The end of November is the start of panto season. Oh yes it is!! This year we can look forward to Cinderella and her ugly sisters entertaining us with their classic rags to riches tale.
Festive Classes
Wreath making classes (often with a festive afternoon tea!) are always a bit hit in Cheltenham. Several hotels and venues run these classes in the run up to Christmas including Ellenborough Park and the Jury’s Inn.
Other festive class which are sure to be a big hit with gin drinkers are gin making workshops. The Greenway Hotel and Spa are offering a delightful Sloe Gin class with lunch for ladies and Siblings Gin, are promising mince pies served with Cranberry and Clementine G&T's during a festive workshop at their Cheltenham based distillery.
