While Halloween usually conjures up images of wicked witches, ghoulish ghosts and creepy crawlies, our popular local attraction Sudeley Castle and Gardens is set to be a more magical place for families this half term, thanks to the arrival of Enchanted Sudeley at Halloween.

The former royal residence and its award-winning gardens, based in Winchcombe, will set the scene for a very special trail taking visitors on a journey through the stories of the Brothers Grimm, from October 26 to November 3.

Visitors this Halloween will find that a Wicked Witch has cast a spell over the castle, releasing characters from the Brothers Grimm stories throughout the grounds. Children can explore Sudeley on a quest to rescue the castle from the evil witches spell, by seeking out Hansel & Gretel, Rapunzel and many more storybook favourites and completing the Enchanted Trail.

Families will be brought together and memories evoked and made, as parents, grandparents and siblings tell tales to the younger children in the fairytale setting of the Cotswold castle. While the wandering characters promise to bring the tales to enchanting life - and offer some great photo opportunities too!

Sudeley Castle on a winter's day

Kim Gibbon, Head of Visitor Services, said: “Reading to children is so important - now more than ever in the digital age - and we want to bring families together through a love of literature, in our unique historic setting.

“Now the weather is turning colder outside, half term is the perfect time to enjoy our stunning castle and its rich history, from the sweeping staircase, Dutch painted glass and iconic Elizabethan paintings, to rare treasures, tapestries and stunning sculptures.”

Enchanted Sudeley at Halloween is included in the general admission price, and families can save 10% on admission by booking in advance online - with children under three being admitted for free.
