We’ve asked Sarah Lewis, the Events & Marketing Coordinator for John Lewis & Partners Cheltenham, to share details of two charity fashion shows and a live valuation taking place at our local store this month, all to support three very worthwhile local charities.

"We are so excited about events happening in our shop this September! The kids are back at school and we are hoping that our customers will be looking to fill up their social calendars as we move into autumn with some of our exciting events - all for some truly amazing causes."

The second fashion show is supporting Clic Sargent, a national charity that supports children who have cancer.  John Lewis & Partners are working with the family of Benjamin Smith, a local 5 year old boy who is currently going through treatment for cancer. Ben's family work tirelessly to raise funds for Clic Sargent and are particularly looking forward to this event as explained by Benjamin’s father, Matt –

“John Lewis approached me after kindly donating a beauty hamper to The Benjamin Ball, a black tie event we held last November, to see if I would be interested in hosting a fashion show for a charity of our choice. Did I have to think about it?  No, and I knew straight away which charity I would put forward.

My wife and I, Suzanne, cannot wait to see not only our son Benjamin but other patients, past and present walking down the catwalk and having fun. Benjamin and his big sister have already had their fittings for the clothes. They felt so grown up!”

The evening will include lots of special activities for families and children alike, including complimentary Prosecco for mums and dads and kid friendly canapes.  We asked Matt why he felt that local people should buy tickets and support the charity -

“It is not a coincidence that the Fashion Show is being held during Childhood Cancer Awareness month. CLIC Sargent is just one of the many charities that support children with cancer. For us personally CLIC provided a house for us to live in whilst we were in Bristol during the early stages of treatment. They have supplied us with a social worker and funded a specialist nurse. They have also provided tailored events for Benjamin and other Gloucestershire patients to make life as normal as possible including special cinema showings at Gloucester Guild Hall, Paint a Pottery events, cooking events with siblings and even helped us as a family take a family weekend break to Butlin’s at Christmas, where Benjamin got to see Father Christmas. This fashion show is our way of giving back to them.”

Ticket details - Tickets available to purchase at the Experience Desk, in store or on 01242 544 042. All attendees are encouraged to wear gold to celebrate Cancer Awareness Month. Doors open at 6.30pm, drinks and canapes 6.45 – 7.15pm, fashion show 7.15 – 8pm followed by raffle and special activities 8 – 9pm.
