As summer approaches, the huge variety of festivals, events and activities start to roll into Cheltenham. The Wychwood Festival is approaching with live music, hearty food, comedy and family fun. Over its 13 year life the festival has been host to artists such as UB40, The Human League and Soul II Soul but the entertainment doesn’t just stop at music.

Starting this Friday at Cheltenham Racecourse, Wychwood is one of those festivals where even if you don’t see any performances, you’ll still have a good time. The programme is packed with fashion markets, yoga centres, family shows and comedy tents just to name a few. The festival is loved by many and attended by even more, attracting around 7500 visitors each day. With the BBC calling it “fun packed” and The Independent claiming it’s “the perfect way to ease into the festival season”, it’s definitely worth a visit. This year’s line-ups include comedy from Tom Taylor, family activities from childhood favourites Dick and Dom, along with live music from The Gipsy Kings and Shed Seven.

Having fun with the kids doesn’t mean having to be exhausted either. The entire festival gives a laid back and relaxed environment with play areas for them to burn their energy and a vast amount of food /drink stalls to recover yours. If you’re a foodie, Wychwood has you covered as well offering a plethora of independent food stalls with handmade goodies. From burgers and curries to doughnuts and ice cream, there’s something for everyone. It’s clear that Wychwood is targeted at families with children being catered for in all parts of the festival, but the interactive workshops, competitions and live shows really help keep the little ones interested for the whole day.

One-day passes are available but to get the most out of the festival you can camp for the entire weekend. Want to camp but don’t have (or don’t want to go through the hassle of putting up) a tent? A selection of Tipis and pre-pitched tents turn your camping to “glamping” with homely furnishings, phone chargers and double mattresses.

Tickets are still available through the Wychwood Festival website but you can also snag one up on the door.
