2017 offers another fantastic festival calendar throughout venues across Cheltenham....
We head into the start of 2017 at Cheltenham Racecourse with a day of racing on New Year's Day, followed by the Festivals Trial Day on the 28th.
The headline event of the racing calendar is the Cheltenham Festival, which takes place between the 14th and 17th March and sees people (and horses) travel from across the globe to this elite four-day event, culminating in the Gold Cup on the 17th.
On the 19th and 20th April they host the April meet, and then the racing calendar closes until November on 5th May with the Hunter Chase Evening.
More info on Cheltenham Races can also be found on the VisitEngland website.
April sees the return of the Cheltenham Wine Festival on the 1st, at Pittville Pump Room, where you can sample wines from across the globe with fellow wine lovers! The first in the series of the four Cheltenham Festivals, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, runs from 28th April to 1st May, and celebrates its 21st anniversary at various venues across the town.
A popular event at the nearby Royal Three Counties Showground from 11th to 14th May is the RHS Malvern Spring Festival, with four days of horticultural delights, demonstrations, food, drink and trade stands. You will be sure to spot some famous faces including Monty Don and Carol Klein from BBC Gardener's World who film there every year.
June is jam-packed with festivals to enjoy, kicking off with the 2017 Wychwood Music Festival, which takes place at Cheltenham Racecourse from the 2nd to the 4th June. The Cheltenham Science Festival runs at Cheltenham Town Hall from the 6th to the 11th June, and the Cheltenham Food and Drink Festival will be at Montpellier Gardens from the 9th to the 11th June which includes tastings, demonstrations, lectures, and plenty of local produce to take home! The Royal Three Counties Agricultural Show is at the Three Counties Showground from 16th to 18th June showcasing the finest in agricultural, livestock and equine, with many trade stands and activities.
Cheltenham Music Festival kicks off the summer with a fortnight of fantastic music and entertainment from 5th to 16th July at various indoor and outdoor venues across Cheltenham.
The finale of the Cheltenham Festivals series is the Cheltenham Literature Festival, which takes place from the 6th to the 15th October, and what better a year to visit than this - the year that VisitEngland celebrate The Year of Literary Heroes to mark the 200th anniversary of the death of Jane Austen and 20 years since the first Harry Potter book!
