Cheltenham Festival 2012

The Festival at Cheltenham is the shining jewel in Jump racing's crown. It is four days of magic, madness & magnificence, played out on a stage framed by the breathtaking vista of the Cotswold Hills.
To assist vistors the following useful information has been put together including advice on transport, events listings and information on useful facilities.
Maps
A handy map with locations of buses, taxi ranks, public toilets and pubs has been produced and can be downloaded from the Cheltenham Borough Council website. Printed versions and alternative town maps are also available for free from the Tourist Information Centre (address 77 Promenade, Cheltenham, Gl50 1PJ).

Coach parking
Coach parking is available at Cheltenham Racecourse at the designated coach park on Evesham Road.
There is also limited coach parking available in the town centre at North Place Coach and Car Park. Prior booking is not required. For race week only, coaches can park for £5.50 for the whole day. Tickets are available from the pay and display machines.
Car parking
Cheltenham Borough Councils parking pages provide information about on-street and off-street parking in Cheltenham, including car park locations and charges.
Additional car parking is available off the Evesham Road in Albemarle Gate on the golf course field, priced at £5 a day.
Shuttle buses
Railway station - Town centre - Racecourse
Shuttle buses will operate from 10am from Cheltenham Spa train station, via the town centre to the Racecourse and back again. The fare for this service is £3 single, £5 return.
Shuttle buses will also depart from outside WHSmith on the High Street to the Racecourse. The fare for this service is £2.50.
Buses to the train station from town will depart from Pittville Street (side entrance to Marks and Spencer).
Taxis
Taxi ranks in the town centre are located in the Promenade - one on the corner of the Promenade and Crescent Terrace and a temporary one outside Pizza Hut. There is another taxi rank at the top of Montpellier Walk.
Walking
You can walk to the Racecourse from the town centre, along Pittville Street (down the side of Marks and Spencer) and straight on along Evesham Road past Pittville Park. This should take about 20 minutes.
Walking from the train station to the town centre takes around 20 minutes (and then a further 20 minutes on to the Racecourse - or get the bus from outside WHSmith).
Public toilets
Public toilets are located in:
- Royal Well Road at the rear of the Municipal Offices
- Regent Arcade, on the second floor
- Montpellier Gardens
- Portland Street car park (please note this is a pay toilet)
Portable toilets
Portaloos will be situated around Cheltenham at the following locations:
- Central Cross Drive near the café
- Evesham Road alongside Pittville Park
- Evesham Road at the end of Walnut Close
- Along New Barn Lane opposite the Post Office
Litter
Please dispose of your litter responsibly in the many additional bins that will be provided throughout the town.
Public transport disruption
Park and ride
The park and ride service at the Racecourse will be suspended for race week and will operate from Cheltenham Town Football Club.
Service buses
Routes B, D, 94U, 99 and 151 are subject to diversions and time table changes during race week. Visit the Stagecoach website for more details and service updates.
