Cheltenham Jazz Festival 2012

In May Cheltenham Jazz Festival will get the Bank Holiday going with a swing as it hosts some of the world’s finest musicians in Montpellier Gardens.

Set in the beautiful Montpellier Gardens in Cheltenham from 2nd to 7th May 2012, the Jazz Festival programme is bursting with superstar names, jazz legends and Cheltenham exclusives.
 
The Festival will welcome musical stars including Jamie Cullum, Paloma Faith, Imelda May, The Puppini Sisters, Marcus Miller, Candi Staton and Gregory Porter.
 
Plus, with a brand new Big Top venue, free outdoor stage, boutique cinema, interactive Music Lab – full of the latest musical gadgetry -  and a host of bars and cafes, the gardens will offer the perfect backdrop to the world’s greatest jazz performers.

Cheltenham Opera Society and English Touring Opera

Recital by Lorna Bridge (soprano), Helen Johnson (mezzo) and Adam Tunnicliffe (tenor) from English Touring Opera.

Arias, duets and trios by Gershwin, Mozart, Puccini, Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky and Verdi.

Tea and coffee available at St Andrew's Church from 11.30am

Walking Tours of Regency Cheltenham

This friendly walking festival offers 17 guided walks for all abilities, with knowledgeable guides who can give you an insight into the countryside.

  For 2012 the Walking Festival includes:

An insight into life in and around Sudeley Castle in Tudor times where Queen Katherine Parr is buried.  

Walk the Windrush Way from Winchcombe to Bourton-on-the-Water through the hills passing the remains of ‘lost’ medieval villages en route.

Find out about Winchcombe’s military history during the two World Wars.

Follow a section of the popular Winchcombe Way through tranquil hamlets.

Walk to Longborough, a pretty ‘Walkers are Welcome’ village in the hills near Stow-on-the-Wold.

Walk a section of the Cotswold Way with the National Trail Officers and gain an insight into how the trail is managed.

Walk part of the new Holst Way from the Holst Museum in Cheltenham with one of the route’s originators.

For the more energetic why not try orienteering on Cleeve Common, the highest point in the Cotswolds. Suits all ages.

Visit a Roman Villa, beautiful villages nestling in valleys, identify wild flowers, learn about birdsong or learn about Winchcombe’s historical past.
