Fine Form: Horse Parade

Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum and Cheltenham Racecourse have joined
together to celebrate a milestone in Cheltenham’s most prestigious sporting event
and a landmark in the town’s history as The Cheltenham Festival celebrates its
100th anniversary in 2011.

A programme of exhibitions and events has been organised to mark the occasion and in the summer we want to engage with the whole town through an event entitled
Fine Form: Horse Parade. This will be a display of life-size three-dimensional horses
decorated and painted by artists - some in partnership with schools and community
groups - and placed at key locations throughout the town. We are planning to put
the horses in prominent locations in the town centre and will discuss these with
prospective sponsors.

The parade will be displayed at the height of the tourist season. We expect to emulate
the success of similar projects in Bath, London and Norwich which attracted significant press coverage and brought visitors to these respective cities. A trail leaflet will be available in print and on line through the Art Gallery & Museum/TIC websites
with details of each horse and locations to ensure maximum awareness.

We are inviting local businesses to help us celebrate this significant milestone in the
town’s history by sponsoring a horse for just £3,500. This will be fantastic opportunity
for local organisations to work with artists on a unique design for their own sponsored horse - incorporating either their branding, name or images linked to their product/ services.

All arrangements for the project will be organised by Cheltenham Art Gallery
& Museum - including liaison with the artists.
